In the land of the laughing hippos

Last month, my family and I took a once-in-a-lifetime trip to southern Africa. Among our many awe-inspiring experiences was a two-day trip into the Okavango Delta of northwestern Botswana, where we traveled by mokoro canoe and slept in two-man tents on the ground, with hippos, elephants, and other wildlife rustling and chattering throughout the night.

Exploring the St. Croix Valley: Adventures on & off the Water

In February of 2022, I took a week off of work, loaded up the dog, a pair of snowshoes, and copious amounts of coffee, chocolate, and wine, then headed up north to Pine County, Minnesota. To avoid using a shuttle or bringing two cars, I brought my mountain bike along and rode back to our put-in at the end of each day to bring our truck and camping gear down to the next location.
